These pens were part of our biggest (and most heartfelt) launch yet ā six beautiful marker sets, made to pair with our first-of-its-kind 100% bleed-proof colouring book.Ā
But after launch, we discovered that some pens werenāt performing the way they should. A small but noticeable number of customers let us know their markers were drying too quickly ā sometimes after just a page or two.
From our thorough investigation, we estimated that roughly 10% of pens in this batch may be affected (it could be more or less, itās really hard to know!). Some work beautifully, some might not. We just canāt guarantee the outcome of the pens.
Rather than letting thousands of pens be shipped back to the factory (and likely discarded), our customers reached out in their hundreds and requested we continue to sell them, but at a discount. Weāve listened, and so this is why weāre choosing to offer them here ā honestly, transparently, and at a huge discount.
These pens are being sold at a discount due to known quality issues ā we canāt guarantee how theyāll perform, but weāre grateful to those happy to give them a home either way.

Love the colours in this set. Absolute bargain price for the quality. I bought more sets after my husband gifted me the big set. Iād definitely buy more.

Great set of pens, perfect for my colouring & journaling
Iāve struggled for a while to find a set of skin colour pens that have a good variety of colours. These are exactly what I am after! Great range of shades gives me a chance to colour people as I picture them ā¤ļø
Amazing pens, smooth and a good range of skin shades, which I feel the pen market is lacking. However even using the Calm over chaos books, the pages arenāt thick enough to stop them bleeding through to the other side. With it being marker pens I figured it wouldnāt work with normal paper but was hoping it would work with the colouring books sold here

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review and share your thoughts. We are so pleased to hear you love the smoothness and shade range of the pens - and we completely understand your frustration with bleed through.
For anyone wondering, our Calm Over Chaos collection is a mix of two types of books: bleedproof books (like The Butter Book and Boredom Busters) which use a special coated paper designed specifically for alcohol markers, and non-bleedproof books (including our subscription and our more message-based books) which use a more traditional, recycled uncoated paper. This paper works beautifully with brush pens, gel pens, and water-based markers, but unfortunately alcohol markers will soak through.
When we first started, our focus was on paper that felt soft and luxurious for a variety of mediums - but as our community began using more alcohol markers, we invested in creating our signature bleedproof paper to give the best possible experience. It has been a journey of testing, sourcing, and refining to get the paper to where it is today, and it is more expensive to produce - but absolutely worth it for the difference it makes.
As we have only just started using this magical paper (we have not seen it anywhere else on the market!) it is currently only used for Butter the Mouse and Boredom Busters.
The good news is that we are gradually moving as many of our books as possible over to the new bleedproof paper in the future. This means that over time, more Calm Over Chaos books will be alcohol-marker friendly without worrying about bleed through.
